KINGSLAND - The Kingsland Municipal Utility District is still working on repairs to three lines at FM 2545 damaged during the June flood.

“The lines didn’t actually break, we’re just trying to restore them, back to the way they were,” KMUD General Manager Jeffrey Koska told The Daily Tribune. “There isn’t any real progress yet, because a lot of the applications are still not complete. We’re still getting numbers on the construction costs.”

KMUD officials asked the Federal Emergency Management Agency last August to approve a mitigation grant to relocate the lines. However, FEMA officials surveyed the lines and suggested KMUD forgo the mitigation route and request funds to fix the lines at their present location, the general manager added.

Furthermore, FEMA has yet to approve a partnership between KMUD and the Kingsland Water Supply Corp. to repair one of the damaged lines at FM 2545, Koska said.

The applications to repair the lines should be complete before the end of the year, he added.

Also during the KMUD meeting Monday, the board approved a request by Michael and Tina Claxton for a refund.

“For some reason, back in 2002, they were set up with two accounts instead of one account, and the board approved a refund for them,” Koska said.

In other business, the board amended the grazing lease for Donald Wayne Thompson approved last July.

“There was some insurance language in the contract that was cleaned up,” Koska said. “The contract still remains in effect.”

Also during the meeting, the board:

n Approved the district tax roll data received from the Llano County Tax Assessor Collector’s Office for 2007. Delinquent taxes totaled $58,284 and taxes equaled $1,221,196 for a total certified tax roll at $1,279,480.

n Annexed one lot from Royal Oaks Estates upon a petition from Allen W. Wilhite.

n Adopted a new septic usage rate, from $10.46 to $11.05 per 100 gallons.

n Raised the rate for installing a grinder pump at a single residence by $50, from $2,500 to $2,550.

n Established the “road cut” fee at $250 for a 50-foot cut, plus $5 per foot over 50 feet, for anywhere the utility has to cut paved road for installations.

n Tabled action on the appointment of a KMUD representative to the Llano County Appraisal District for a two-year term to begin Jan. 1.
