HIGHLAND LAKES - Burnet County residents can get a jump on the Nov. 6 general election Monday by voting early.
Early voting runs through Nov. 2. Burnet County voters have two locations to cast their ballots in the early period: the Burnet County Courthouse, 220 S. Pierce in Burnet, and the Courthouse Annex, 810 Steve Hawkins Parkway in Marble Falls.
County officials do not foresee any problems.
“I expect things to go smoothly. Our election workers have trained hard and we have trained hard,” said Melanie Huff, the county elections administrator.
About 3,000-4,000 voters traditionally turn out for a constitutional election such as the one Nov. 6. There are 24,700 registered voters in Burnet County, Huff said.
The hours for early voting are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays, except for Wednesday and Nov. 1, when the hours at both locations will be 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
There will be no Saturday early voting.
The ballot includes 16 state constitutional amendments. There are also two local items on the ballot that effect certain parts of the county.
The two local items on the ballot include a proposition establishing a county emergency assistance district in the unincorporated portions of Burnet County. A second local proposition for voters in voting precinct 22 has to do with establishing the Burnet County Water Control and Improvement District No. 1.
