MARBLE FALLS - Department of Public Safety officials Friday released the names of two people killed in separate traffic accidents this week.
Uwe Eric Lemke, 52, of Georgetown died after he was thrown from his motorcycle in a Thursday afternoon accident on U.S. 281 just south of Marble Falls.
According to DPS troopers, a pickup was in the northbound lane waiting to make a left turn when the trailer it was pulling was struck by Lemke’s motorcycle.
Two friends who were riding with Lemke on a different motorcycle pulled over after witnessing the wreck, DPS Cpl. William Talamantez said.
“The friends said they were coming to Marble Falls to visit another friend,” he said. “They had come from Georgetown, down to Corpus Christi, then up to Fredericksburg and were on their way back.”
Lemke was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Edward Cutchin.
Another Thursday afternoon accident in Llano County claimed the life of a Kerrville woman.
Sue Coates, 68, was killed in a single-vehicle accident on Texas 16 outside of Llano.
According to DPS reports, Coates was traveling in the southbound lane when her vehicle drifted toward the right side of the road, then hit a guardrail.
Her vehicle came to rest in a ditch on near the roadway, officials said.
Coates was transported to Llano Memorial Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 4:30 p.m.
